The East Africa Community

This regional block, called the East African Community (EAC), is made up of Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, countries covering 701,028 sq. miles and represents a market of 125 Million people and a combined GDP of US $104.2 billion.

The region has great potential in financial market, project financing, and sovereign bond issuance, agribusiness, processing industries, service economy and mining. Although socioeconomic challenges in the region remain – unemployment, high poverty levels and geopolitical risks, the region has made remarkable macro-economic progress with growth rates of over 5% per annum in majority of the countries. The forum will focus on key areas of capital market growth, private equity opportunities, developments in ICT and Telecom, as well as Agribusiness.
